Brief introduction of OTG
USB OTG is the abbreviation of USB On-The-Go; it is a new technology was developed by USB Implementers Forum on 18th Dec 2001. USB OTG usually is applied to data transfer among various advices, especially to hand-held, mobile phone, and consumer electronics. It helps to simply the connection among digital camera, video camera and printer; further to release the embarrassment resulted from different kinds of memory cards.
USB enables a user to transfer data from PC and its peripherals to other advices easily and efficiently, even though their transfer speeds are totally different. Base on PC support, all operations which have been mentioned can be realized through USB bus, the USB bus is working as a PC-peripheral in this case. But the transfer method can not be realised without PC; since no other advices can work as a host to provide USB jack.
OTG (On-The-Go) enables a data transfer in different advices without PC support. For example, via OTG, users can connect digital camera to printer directly and print out pictures easily; also, users can copy all pictures from digital camera to portable hard disk, then they do not suffer the trouble of carrying the memory sticks or a heavy laptop any more.
New features of OTG:

- OTG provides USB host functionality which means users are able to connect standard USB advices directly;
- Low power consumption to guarantee USB can work under battery supply.
